Stewart's first full season was so incredible that it's almost unfair to ask him to live up to it. He struggled to do so in the following two seasons, with injuries hindering him along the way. He righted himself in 2007 with a fine season for Triple-A Colorado Springs and made his big-league debut in August at age 22. He's got the ability to hit for both average and power and will even steal a base or two. He's also a good defensive third baseman with decent range and a strong arm.
That's where the issue of playing time arises. Where does Stewart play in the big leagues with Garrett Atkins entrenched at third? The answer might be second base. With the Rockies unsure about re-signing Kaz Matsui, they had Stewart work out at second during instructional league play with promising results. He could provide an interesting option there in 2008.
