Whether he's a starter or reliever in the future, one thing is certain: Liz has nasty stuff. With a moving fastball in the mid- to upper-90s, along with a slider and changeup, Liz has shown the ability to dominate hitters throughout his Minor League career, as evidenced by his 11 strikeouts per nine innings rate over his career and the no-hitter he threw in 2007.
Command has always been an issue for Liz and it caused him trouble when he made his big league debut in 2007. Despite the walks, he was much more effective as a reliever while with Baltimore and it's possible that's where his future lies.
