Determining the Wild Card

If the second-half winner in either division is the same as the first-half winner in that division, then the team with the next best overall record in that division will be chosen as the Wild Card.

If two or more teams are tied for the Wild Card position in either division, then the following series of tiebreakers will be used to determine the Wild Card:

    • 1. Better record in head-to-head competition
    • 2. Best second-half record against divisional opponents
    • 3. Best overall (full-season) record against divisional opponents
