Prospect Roundup: Games of June 9

Moya plates five runs in doubleheader, Stephenson fans eight
June 10, 2015

Tigers OF Steven Moya, Triple-A Toledo: 3-for-6, HR, 2 2B, 3 R, 5 RBI, 2 SB -- Moya rallied the Mud Hens in the first game of a doubleheader, slugging a two-run homer in the sixth inning and hitting a walk-off two-run double the following inning. He followed that up with an RBI double in the nightcap, finishing with five RBIs in the twinbill. The 23-year-old outfielder has hits in eight of his 10 games this month, with seven of his 34 RBIs coming in June.

Giants RHP Clayton Blackburn, Triple-A Sacramento: 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 9 K -- Blackurn notched a season-high nine strikeouts, surrendering three runs on eight hits over six innings. It is his fourth straight start with three or fewer runs allowed but did not figure into the decision for the River Cats.

Reds RHP Robert Stephenson, Double-A Pensacola: 7 IP,3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K -- Stephenson continued his trend of strong starts, fanning eight while allowing two runs on three hits over seven inning, his third consecutive start with seven or more innings. He has lowered his ERA from 5.45 on May 18 to 3.67 and has struck out seven or more in four straight starts. After struggling a year ago with the Blue Wahoos, the 22-year-old right-hander appears to be settling into the Southern League and should move up if he continues to pitch well.

Twins OF Adam Brett Walker II, Double-A Chattanooga: 2-for-6, HR, 2B, 2 R, 4 RBI --  Walker continues to swing a hot bat, homering and driving in four runs in the opening game of a doubleheader for the Lookouts. Though he saw his home run streak snapped at two games in the nightcap, the 23-year-old has launched four long balls over his last 10 games, batting .314 over that stretch and on Tuesday was named to the Southern League All-Star North roster. Walker currently leads the Southern League with 16 homers and 50 RBIs.

Blue Jays LHP Matt Boyd, Double-A New Hampshire: 7 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 4 K -- Boyd continues to shine for the Fisher Cats, surrendering one run on two hits over seven innings. The 24-year-old has not lost a game since April 15, going 6-0 in his last 10 starts. Boyd leads the Eastern League with a 1.10 ERA, 70 strikeouts and a 0.77 WHIP. The hurler has given not just quality innings but quantity as well, going seven or more in his last five starts.

Braves SS Ozhaino Albies, Class A Rome: 3-for-5, 2 R -- There might not be a hotter hitter in the Minor Leagues over the last 10 days than Albies. Tuesday's three-hit effort marked the fourth time since May 30 that the 18-year-old racked up three or more hits. In his last 10 games, Albies is batting .500 with nine runs scored, and he currently ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League with a .323 batting average to go with 21 stolen bases and a league-best 43 runs scored.
