Generals Finish Seventh in Clash of the Caps

Jackson's BP hats voted among the best in Minor League Baseball
July 22, 2015

Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals placed seventh out of 160 teams in Minor League Baseball's Clash of the Caps, which wrapped up on Tuesday. Fans had the ability to vote on matchups between the hats of every minor league team online and through social media to determine a winner.

Jackson's batting practice hat features a black top and a green brim with the team's iconic logo of its mascot Sarge chewing on a baseball bat emblazoned across the front. The team wears these when warming up before games.

"It is very exiting that our cap finished seventh out of all 160 teams," Jackson General Manager Jason Compton said. "Our fans helped be voting, but it also shows that our brand has really taken off nationwide as has appeal all over."

The General were one of four Tennessee teams and one of five in the Southern League that finished in the top 8 in voting. The newly renamed Daytona Tortugas of the Florida State League won the contest, but Pensacola (No. 2), Nashville (No. 4), Biloxi (No 5.), Chattanooga (No. 6) and Tennessee (No. 8) all ranked among the top hats in minor league baseball.

"It is just another way that Minor League Baseball puts Jackson and all of rural West Tennessee on the map," Compton said.

The batting practice cap along with all of the team's other official hats are on sale at the Generals Store at The Ballpark at Jackson and online. The store opens at 9 am on weekdays and stays open through games when the team is at home. Even for fans that can't make it to the park, the hats and other team merchandise are available for purchase online at store.jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
