Chestnut Wins Trenton Thunder World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Championship

Consumed 32 4oz Pork Roll Sandwiches in 10 minutes

Major League Eater and eight time Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Champion, Joey Chestnut, consumed 32 4oz Pork Roll Sandwiches on Saturday, September 26, 2015 to land the 1st place spot of the inaugural Trenton Thunder World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Championship.

Pork roll fans attended ARM & HAMMER Park this past Saturday at noon for a festival-style atmosphere of pork roll inspired food, fall-style brews, bands, games, and inflatables for kids which culminated in the Major League Eating event which began it's opening ceremonies at 2:30pm. In addition to Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, 9 other Major League Eaters from around the world attended the inaugural event.

4.       Juliet Lee - 21.75 Sandwiches ($300)

5.       Gideon Oji - 20 Sandwiches ($100)

6.       Eric Booker - 18 Sandwiches

7.       Carmen Cincotti - 16 Sandwiches

8.       Micah Collins - 13 Sandwiches

9.       William Myers - 12 Sandwiches

10.   Crazy Legs Conti - 10 Sandwiches

11.   Andrew Kossuth - 8 Sandwiches

12.   Jeff Edelstein - 3.25 Sandwiches

Two of the Thunder's hand-selected eaters, Jeff Edelstein of the Trentonian, and Carmen "The New Face of Case" Cincotti, also performed admirably. Cincotti, a Ewing, NJ native, consumed 16 sandwiches in 10 minutes, coming in 7th place among the 12 total eaters.

"I'm really proud of our hometown guys," said Trenton Thunder General Manager, Jeff Hurley, regarding both Edelstein and Concotti. "I'm glad that Jeff Edelstein was able to perform for us at this historic event and Carmen really looks like he is ready for the Majors."

This event marked the first time that Chestnut had ever eaten pork roll. In total, over 200 hundred pork roll sandwiches were consumed between the 12 competitors. Joey Chestnut who owned 38 World Records coming into the championship on Saturday now can add Pork Roll, a New Jersey and Trenton delicacy, to his impressive resume.

"The sandwiches were delicious," said Chestnut. "The meat was really good."
