PawSox Continue to Soar

The Pawtucket Red Sox erased a 5-2 deficit, scoring 5 runs in the sixth inning on Satruday night, thumping the Bisons 8-5. Ryan Lavarnway and Lars Anderson each knocked in three runs for first place Pawtucket, now a season-high 19 games over the .500 plateau, at 44-25. Overall, it's the fourth straight win for the PawSox. Pedro Ciriaco extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a pair of hits and a run batted in. Ciriaco also played an outstanding shortstop. Cody Ross reached base 4 times in his ML rehab assignment (foot) debut. Ross reached on an error, singled, walked and reached on a fielders' choice. Nate Spears added a pair of singles.

Billy Buckner got his first PawSox win, despite allowing 5 runs on 7 hits in five innings. Junichi Tazawa threw 3 scoreless innings of relief and Mark Prior nailed it down, striking out two in the ninth, picking up the save (1).

The PawSox go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Brandon Duckworth (6-1) faces lefty Garrett Olson (2-3).
