Kevin Kouzmanoff hammered his sixth homer in seven games Saturday to power the Akron Aeros over the Harrisburg Senators, 7-2, in the opener of a doubleheader at Commerce Bank Park.

The 24-year-old third baseman cranked a two-run shot to spark a five-run third inning. The blast was the second in as many days for Kouzmanoff, who is batting .401 (91-for-227) with a team-leading 15 roundtrippers.

Brian Barton, who went 2-for-3 and scored twice, also homered for the second straight day. In his third game with Akron, the 24-year-old center fielder led off the second with a shot over the right-field fence.

Aeros starter Thomas Cowley (1-0) gave up one run on three hits, struck out five and walked three over six innings for the win. In his last outing, the 22-year-old left-hander tossed a one-hitter over seven innings for Class A Lake County.

Kip Bouknight (5-7) tossed his second complete game of the season, but took the loss after surrendering seven runs on 11 hits and a pair of walks with seven strikeouts.

Dan Dement and Josh Whitesell homered in the fourth and seventh, respectively, for the Senators (51-48), who lead the Eastern League with 86 homers. Whitesell has homered in two of his last three contests and leads the team with 17.

Ryan Mulhern, Nathan Panther and Wyatt Toregas hit RBI singles for first-place Akron (59-39), and Ivan Ochoa also drove in a run.
