Luis Arredondo's RBI groundout capped a ninth-inning rally as visiting Yucatan edged Mexico, 5-4, in Game 7 of their Mexican League first-round playoff series Friday.

With the Leones trailing, 4-2, in the ninth, Juan Carlos Zazueta and Donzell McDonald delivered RBI doubles before Arredondo's groundout plated the go-ahead run in the completion of Thursday's suspended game.

Jesus Castillo hit an RBI single in the second and Luis Borges scored on a wild pitch by reliever Rudy Gonzalez in the third to give Yucatan a 2-0 lead before play was halted due to rain.

Solo homers by Saul Soto and Robert Saucedo in the fourth and sixth, respectively, knotted the score for the Diablos Rojos. Carlos Valencia's one-out blast and an RBI single by Geronimo Gil in the seventh gave Mexico the upper hand.

Yucatan reliever Jose Vargas (1-0) earned the win after giving up one hit with a walk and one strikeout over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Mexico's Joakim Soria (0-1) was touched for two runs on two hits without retiring a batter in the ninth.

Yucatan begins the second-round series against the defending champion Tigres de la Angelopolis on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. --Marissa Rega/MLB.com
