Alhaji Turay went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs on Friday as the St. Lucie Mets rallied past the Dunedin Blue Jays, 7-5, in the opener of the Florida State League Championship Series.
Turay doubled and scored in the fifth inning, belted a solo homer in the seventh and delivered a two-run double in the ninth off Milton Tavarez (0-1) to give the Mets a 6-5 lead.
The 23-year-old center fielder, who hit .244 with nine homers and 37 RBIs in 77 regular-season games, recorded his first four-hit game of the year.
Caleb Stewart hit a two-run blast, Fernando Martinez also drove in a pair of runs and Corey Coles collected three of St. Lucie's 11 hits.
Travis Hope (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth to pick up the win and Carlos Muniz worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his third postseason save. St. Lucie starter Deolis Guerra allowed three runs on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
Robinzon Diaz smacked a two-run single during a three-run first for the Blue Jays. He added an RBI single in the seventh that forged a 4-4- tie.
Dunedin starter Kurt Isenberg yielded four runs on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in seven innings.
