ALL-PCL TEAM NAMED
TEAM COMPOSED BY MANY OF LEAGUE'S TOP NAMES

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Geovany Soto and Eric Patterson were named to the 2007 All-PCL Team.  The announcement came from the Pacific Coast League today.  The team features the League's best players at every position including right-handed and left-handed starting pitchers, as well as a relief pitcher. The prestigious team is selected annually by vote of the PCL's  field managers and media representatives.

Iowa Cubs standout and current PCL batting and RBI leader(.358, 103) Soto was selected as the catcher for the squad and he will be joined by teammate Patterson who was named to the second base position. The Albuquerque Isotopes boast the most representatives on the celebrated team with three members getting spots-- third baseman Scott Seabol (2nd in RBIs - 102) and shortstop Robert Andino (1st in triples - 12) are accompanied by League home run leader Valentino Pascucci (34 HR) at Designated Hitter. Rounding out the infield is first baseman Joe Koshansky of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox who is currently hitting .306 with 21 home runs and 99 RBI.

The All-PCL outfielders have displayed their skills both in the field and at the plate during the 2007 campaign, with Rick Ankiel of the Memphis Redbirds, Delwyn Young of the Las Vegas 51s, and Adam Jones of the Tacoma Rainiers all getting nods. Ankiel led the PCL in home runs for much of the season and still sits in second place in that category (32 total) despite his call-up to the St. Louis Cardinals in early August. Delwyn Young currently sits in fourth position in the PCL batting race with a mark of .336 and leads the League in doubles (48), extra-base hits (70), and runs scored (101). Jones, another early August call-up, hit for a .314 batting average with 25 home runs, 27 doubles, and 84 RBIs before being promoted to the Mariners.

On the mound, Nashville Sounds starters R.A. Dickey (11-6, 3.64 ERA) and Adam Pettyjohn (11-4, 3.96 ERA) were selected to the starting pitching positions with Dickey filling the PCL's top right-hander role and Pettyjohn slotted as the League's best southpaw.  The relief pitcher designation went to Colorado Springs closer Ryan Speier who currently sits tied with the PCL record for saves with 32.
