Game Notes: The Z's have held the first place spot for 100 days ..... The Z's finished off their fifth sweep of the season and their second road sweep of the season ..... New Orleans got their first winning series in the month of August.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Round Rock begin the final regular season series of the season. The first game of the four game series on Friday night. The Zephyrs will send Adam Bostick to the mound to face Chan Ho Park for the Express in the 7:00 p.m. game at Dell Diamond. RADIO: Wist-AM 690

8/29/07: ZEPHYRS (Mets) 8 REDHAWKS (Rangers) 2
Game Keys: David Newhan drilled a pair of two run home runs against his former team to lead the Zephyrs to a 8-2 win over Oklahoma. The Zephyrs have won three in a row and may move into a first place tie with Albuquerque. Anderson Hernandez pounded out four hits and Jason Alfaro added three hits as the Zephyrs offense had 12 hits in the game. New Orleans scored first with a two run double by Luis Matos in the second inning. Oklahoma scored a run in the bottom of the inning to pull within a run. Newhan smacked the first of his two home runs in the third. The Zephyrs led 4-2 heading into the ninth inning and the Zephyrs scored four times off of Ezequiel Astacio. Newhan smacked a two run homer. The Z's had a pair of runners on base when Astacio threw behind Jason Alfaro the wild pitch went to the backstop. Alfaro walked to the mound and confronted the pitcher. The benches cleared as the Zephyrs Chip Ambres scored from second base and Chad Hermansen advanced from first to third. The umpires calmed the scene down and ejected no one. Alfaro then drove an Astacio pitch into left center field for a RBI hit and the Z's led 8-2. New Orleans mowed down the Redhawks in the ninth in order. Jason Vargas earned the win and the Zephyrs bullpen pitched three and two thirds scoreless relief in the win. The Z's lead the series 3-0.

Game Notes: The Z's third consecutive win wil;l give the Zephyrs their first winning series in the month of August. The Z's placed pitcher Joe Smith on the disabled list and added reliever Carlos Muniz from Binghamton. Muniz made his Z's debut on Wednesday pitching 1.2 scoreless innings. Muniz was 2-4, with 23 saves in 44 games at Class AA. Ambiorix Burgos placed on the disabled list on Monday had season ending Tommy John surgery.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Oklahoma meet in the final game of the four game series on Thursday night. The Zephyrs will send Dave Williams to the mound to face Armando Galarraga for the Redhawks in the 7:00 p.m. game at ATT Bricktown Ballpark. RADIO: Wist-AM 690

8/28/07: ZEPHYRS (Mets) 6 REDHAWKS (Rangers) 4
Game Keys: New Orleans reliever Willie Collazo came to the rescue on Tuesday night pitching five and one third innings of relief to earn the win in the Zephyrs 6-4 victory at AT@T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. Collazo improved to 6-5 on the season and increased his scoreless inning streak to 33 consecutive innings. He has not allowed a run in his last 16 appearances and in the stretch he has a record of 5-0. Mike Pelfrey started the game and pitched two and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball but was lifted due to a pitch count. The Zephyrs offense got jumpstarted in the third inning with a solo home run by Jason Alfaro. The Z's jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Redhawks scored four times in the fourth off of Steve Schmoll. Collazo bailed out Schmoll picking off Adam Fox for the final out of the fourth inning. Alfaro and Andy Tracy each had a pair of RBI to lead the Z's to their second consecutive win. New Orleans moves ahead of Oklahoma into second place in the division with six games to play.

Game Notes: Collazo has not allowed a run since July 21st at Albuquerque .... He picked off his team leading 7th base runner .... Fernando Tatis extended his hitting streak to seven games and Anderson Hernandez extended his tp six games .... The Zephyrs activated outfielder Jesus Feliciano from the disabled list.... Ambiorix Burgos was placed on the disabled list....

8/27/07: ZEPHYRS (Mets) 8 REDHAWKS (Rangers) 3
Game Keys: The Zephyrs pounded out a season high four home runs and defeated the Oklahoma Redhawks 8-3 on Monday night in Oklahoma City. The win starts the Zephyrs out to a great start on the season ending eight game road trip, the Zephyrs picked up a game in the standings on both Albuquerque and Oklahoma. The Z's moved to two games back of first and a half game back of second place. Philip Humber followed up his near no hit performance with five outstanding innings allowing two hits and one unearned run and earned the victory. His first win in over a month, a stretch of seven starts. Fernando Tatis hit a home run for the second consecutive game and drove home three runs. The Z's jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and brought on an onslaught of runs in the five run fourth. The inning chased Redhawk starter Eric Hurley out of the game. Hurley allowed four home runs and eight runs and suffered the defeat.

Game Notes: The four home runs tied the season high, New Orleans hit four against Albuquerque on July 22nd. The Zephyrs win snapped a three game road losing streak where the Z's had dropped seven of their last 8 road games. Humber is second in the league with 11 wins tied with four other pitchers.
