Box score Brendan Katin's player page Complete playoff coverage Gear up for the postseason Brendan Katin launched a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning as the Huntsville Stars defeated the Montgomery Biscuits, 8-4, on Wednesday in Game 1 of the Southern League Championship Series. With two outs in the seventh and the score tied, 4-4, Katin drilled reliever Richard De Los Santos' offering over the left-field wall to give the Stars (1-0) their first lead of the night. It was Katin's first postseason shot after leading the league with 24 homers and 94 RBIs during the regular season. The 24-year-old right fielder is batting .286 with two RBIs in six playoff games after going 4-for-21 with a team-leading five RBIs during last year's playoff run. Huntsville tacked on three runs in the eighth when Hernan Iribarren was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Adam Heether walked and Steven Sollman lifted a sacrifice fly. The Stars also stormed back from an early three-run deficit in the fifth when Iribarren tripled and scored on Heether's base hit before Mat Gamel's game-tying sacrifice fly. Gamel went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in his Double-A debut after reaching the Florida State League Championship Series with Class A Advanced Brevard County. Starter Sam Narron (1-1) got the win, despite giving up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven frames. Robert Hinton fanned three and walked one over two hitless innings. De Los Santos (0-1) surrendered a run on two hits and struck out three in 2 2/3 frames. Biscuits starter Wade Davis allowed four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Chris Nowak's three-run homer in the first gave Montgomery (0-1) an early lead. Gaby Martinez added a solo shot, his second of the postseason, in the fourth. Game 2 is Thursday in Montgomery.
