MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins right-hander Kevin Slowey threw another successful bullpen session Friday afternoon, and the pitcher will now head off to a Minor League rehab assignment. Slowey, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps muscle, is scheduled to make three Minor League starts to build up his arm strength. The pitcher's first Minor League start will come at Class A Advanced Fort Myers on Monday night against Lakeland. The plan is to have Slowey throw 50 pitches, or around three innings, in his outing. After that start, Slowey will remain in Fort Myers and work out with the Gulf Coast League squad while it is on the road. He'll make a second outing for the Miracle on April 26 in Lakeland, Fla., where he'll increase his pitch count to around 70 pitches. If all goes as planned, Slowey is scheduled to make his final rehab start with Triple-A Rochester five days later. The hope is to get Slowey throwing close to 90 pitches in that final start. The length of the rehab stint for Slowey is due to the fact that he has thrown a total of just 6 1/3 innings since March 29. He threw just three innings that day in his final Spring Training start and was limited to 3 1/3 innings on April 3, when he left his regular-season debut against the Angels with the biceps strain.Kelly Thesier is a reporter for MLB.com.
