Wisconsin (10-15) broke the scoreless tie with a three-run rally in the top of the fourth inning that only needed one hit. Lansing starting pitcher Brad Mills walked the first two batters and hit Alex Liddi to load the bases. One out later, Ron Garth followed with an infielder grounder to drive in a run. Hernandez lined a double to left to drive in the other two runs in the inning for a 3-0 lead. Robinson launched a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to give Wisconsin a 5-0 lead. That was plenty of offensive support for Pineda. He pitched 5-1/3 innings and struck out a career high seven batters while walking only one. Keith Meyer entered the game in relief of Pineda in the sixth inning and worked 1-2/3 scoreless frames. Ryan Moorer pitched a scoreless eighth. Lansing (15-13) would score twice off closer Shawn Kelley in the bottom of the ninth, but he ended the game with a strikeout to give the Rattlers their second straight win. Wisconsin begins a three-game series with the Great Lakes Loons at Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan Sunday afternoon. Juan Ramirez (0-1, 3.68) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Kyle Smit (0-2, 6.95) is slated to start for the Loons. Game time is 2:05pm CDT. |
