Beginning this Monday, June 2 and at every remaining Monday home game, the lowest price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline offered in South Fort Myers, will equal the cost of a box seat ticket for that night's game. For example, "Sharpie's Super Stop" has regular unleaded gas at $3.86 a gallon, then $3.86 is what you pay for a box seat that normally costs $7.00. Currently, AAA puts the national average for a gallon of regular at a record $3.96. That's a jump of 36 cents in the past month, and is 77 cents a gallon higher than it was a year ago. "Every day there is disturbing news about how high gas has risen in price. We are going to turn a negative into a positive," said Miracle general manager Steve Gliner. The Miracle's goal to "fuel up" the local economy will also include gallon giveaways. Fans will have the chance to win anything from a gallon of water to a gallon of sour cream. Anything that comes in a gallon is fair game for a "Cheaper by the Gallon" Monday giveaway. Monday patrons will also benefit with a discount on popular items from the grill -- hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bratwursts and chicken sandwiches. The same price for a gallon of gasoline is the same reduced price for these ballpark favorites. "We have the best fans in the Florida State League and we want to do our part to lessen the financial burden that we are all feeling here in Southwest Florida," said Gliner. Since there are four quarts in a gallon, if there are four people in your vehicle when you arrive at Hammond Stadium, your parking is free on Monday nights. Every fan who attends a Monday night game will be entered into a drawing to receive a pass for free gas, courtesy of the Miracle. The Miracle stimulus plan begins this Monday at 7:05 p.m. when the Dunedin Blue Jays visit Hammond Stadium. The "Cheaper by the Gallon" ticket price only applies to tickets purchased on the same day the game is played, either at the Miracle administrative offices or at the Hammond Stadium ticket office beginning at 5:30 p.m. This offer will not apply to online ticket purchases.
