TROY, N.Y. - On Wednesday, July 30, the Tri-City ValleyCats, in partnership with companies such as General Electric, NYSERDA, Verizon, Waste Management, Microtech Asset Recovery Services, Hannaford and Panera Bread, will provide fans with the opportunity to recycle unwanted items and do their part to help protect the environment.

Starting at noon on July 30, Microtech Asset Recovery Services will be in the parking lot of Joseph L. Bruno Stadium accepting unwanted items such as computers, printers, and monitors (please no televisions, air conditioners or microwaves). Fans who turn in these items will receive $1.00 off the price of a ticket for Wednesday's 7:00 p.m. game against the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The ValleyCats will be hosting a forum in the Pavilion from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm featuring companies who have adapted their practices to the evolving concern for our environment. Representatives from Verizon Wireless, Covanta Energy, Wolberg Electric, Department for Environmental Conservation, Hudson Valley Community College and Snyder Printer will discuss how their business practices have evolved to "Go Green".

Verizon Wireless will be at "The Joe" accepting old cell phones. Through the company's HopeLine program, these phones will either be recycled in an environmentally safe way or they'll be refurbished and donated to victims of domestic violence. Every fan who donates an old cell phone will receive two general admission tickets to an upcoming ValleyCats game. Verizon has also pledged to donate one new phone for every ten phones it collects.

Throughout the July 30 game, fans will be given Hannaford reusable shopping bags as well as a number of other eco-friendly products. A vendor fair will be held on the stadium's concourse and will offer fans tips about recycling and how to make one's home more energy efficient.
