Hernandez, who recently joined the Vero Beach squad, started two games during the week of August 4-10, and recorded a 0.00 ERA for the week. He pitched a total of seven innings, allowed one hit, no runs, walked just one batter and struck out eight. This marks the first Florida State League pitching accolade for the southpaw, currently in his sixth year of professional baseball.
Hernandez previously spent three seasons with the Houston Astros before taking a year off from baseball, and eventually signing with the Rays in July. He is currently 0-1 for the season with a 2.08 ERA in three starts.
