Holland mutes Missions in opener
Allows three hits over 7 1/3 innings in RoughRiders' 5-1 win

Derek Holland hurled 7 1/3 innings of two-hit ball Wednesday as the Frisco RoughRiders shut down the San Antonio Missions, 5-1, in the opener of their Texas League best-of-3 playoff series.

Holland (1-0), who pitched at three levels during the regular season, fanned five and walked one. The only hits he allowed were a double in the second by Kyle Blanks and a homer in the eighth by Craig Cooper.

Beau Jones came on with two on in the ninth and recorded the final three outs for his first save.

The RoughRiders snapped a scoreless tie in the third on solo homers by Steven Murphy and Julio Borbon. They added two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Manuel Pina and Jose Vallejo.

Starter Matt Buschmann (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out five and walking two, for the Missions. Box score
