"The New York Mets' generous donation is a great sign of their commitment to the Western New York community," said Buffalo Bisons owner Bob Rich Jr. "The Mets have been a winning franchise both on the field and off and with today's donation have made an immediate impact here in Buffalo."
Bisons' owners Bob and Mindy Rich adopted the city's program in 2007 to revive baseball in the inner city and to provide the resources to develop players to compete for college scholarships. The multi-year commitment includes the funding of the Junior Bisons, a CEBA League team comprised of players from Buffalo city schools.
The Mets have a long tradition of giving back to their community through their philosophy of "Doing Well While Doing Good." Founded in 1963, the Mets Foundation funds and promotes a variety of educational, social and athletic programs and other charitable causes within the New York City area.
