The resolution was proposed by Senator Shirley Turner (15th Legislative District) to honor the Thunder's accomplishment of winning back-to-back Eastern League Championships. The Thunder defeated the Akron Aeros in the Eastern League Championship Series on September 14 to win their second straight league title. Trenton Thunder General Manager Will Smith, Executive Director of Ticket Sales, Jason Schubert and Director of Ticket Operations, Matt Pentima accepted the resolution on behalf of the Thunder organization. "Winning two championships in a row is certainly an accompishment that the people of New Jersey should be proud of," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "We are pleased to accept this resolution on behalf of the over 421,000 fans who were part of this incredible season and want to thank Senator Turner for this honor." The Thunder also received a ceremonial resolution following the team's 2007 Eastern League Championship. That resolution recognized the team for winning the first championship in Trenton Thunder history. The Thunder will begin the 2009 season on April 8 at home against the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) and will host the 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game on July 15. For each Thunder season ticket, half season ticket, Mini Ticket Package or Pic-A-Plan purchased between now and December 19, the Thunder will supply one underprivileged family with tickets to a game during the 2009 season. Each of the families receiving tickets will be part of the Holiday Gift Outreach program run by Children's Home Society of New Jersey. Groups outings, season tickets, mini ticket packages and Pic-A-Plans are available now by calling 609-394-3300 or online at trentonthudner.com. |
