STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Stockton Ports have announced their plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ESPN (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) during their 2009 season. The promotional night will take place on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, exactly 30 years after ESPN's initial launch in 1979.

The night looks to promote ESPN's rich history as the "worldwide leader in sports" and their support of baseball. The event will feature between-innings games and skits themed around popular ESPN shows and personalities. Throughout the game fans can enjoy memorable sports highlights and participate in ESPN trivia to win merchandise and prizes.

The commemorative night also falls on the Ports' Fan Appreciation Night which will feature a fan choice Ports Player Jersey T-Shirt giveaway.

"We are excited to celebrate television's greatest channel," said Ports President Pat Filippone. "We are anxious to translate our thousands of hours of watching ESPN into ideas and promotions to entertain our fans."

"I look forward to seeing this night in action," said Ports Director of Marketing Justin Gray. "We have a very creative entertainment team and I can't wait for what is sure to be a memorable evening."
