The result? Just what you would expect. RockHounds 16, Hooks 9. The RockHounds scored five runs in the first inning and three more in the second, scoring eight runs on 11 hits against the Astros right-hander, and taking an 8-5 lead. But things were just heating up. Moehler retired the last 10 batters he faced, and the Hooks rallied back to take a 9-8 lead in the fourth inning. From there, the 'Hounds bullpen and bats took over. Justin Dowdy pitched 3.0 scoreless innings in relief and Mike Benacka followed, blanking Corpus in the eighth and ninth. In the meanwhile ... The 'Hounds batted around (for the second time in the game), scoring six runs in the sixth inning and taking a 14-9 lead. The 'Hounds tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh, and went on to win their fourth straight game overall and third in-a-row over the Hooks. In the first three games of the series with Corpus Christi, the RockHounds have scored 33 runs. Adrian Cardenas continued his tremendous season, going 3-for-5 with five RBI ... Josh Horton (3-for-5 with a double) and Josh Donaldson (2-for-5 with a triple) each drove in three runs ... and Danny Putnam, who has been scorching the ball of late, had a four-hit game. In his last 11 games, "Putt" is hitting .408 (20-for-49). All of this (1) took just three hours, seven minutes and (2) came with the Corpus Christi catcher's dad watching. The Hooks catcher is Koby. Koby Clemens. His dad is Roger. Roger Clemens. The Rocket," who won 354 games pitching for the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees and Astros, came to town late Wednesday to watch his son, who made his Double-A debut in Monday night's game. Roger Clemens will be in attendance Thursday night, and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch! Gates will open a half-hour early (5:30 p.m.) and the ceremonial first pitch is just before 6:30 p.m. Oh, by the way ... the RockHounds now own the league's best record (13-6), leading Frisco by four games, and both Corpus Christi and San Antonio by five in the Texas League South.
