Lindblom Leads Lookouts to 4-1 Win

In a highly touted match-up between two Indiana natives on the mound, the Lookouts' Josh Lindblom proved to be more effective than his counterpart, Jarrod Parker. Lindblom threw five shutout innings to lead Chattanooga to a 4-1 win over Mobile in Tuesday night action at AT&T Field.

After three innings of offensive futility, the Lookouts broke the ice in the bottom portion of the fourth. Eddy Perez led the inning off with a walk and look destined to remain at first after two outs were subsequently recorded; however, BayBears starting pitcher Parker suddenly encountered some control issues and proceeded to walk Juan Gonzalez and Lindblom. Adam Godwin then made Parker pay by hitting a looping single to left, scoring Perez and Gonzalez.

With Lindblom exiting and Tim Corcoran taking the mound, the changing of the guards proved to be a welcomed event for Mobile. Pedro Ciriaco greeted Corcoran with a single and reached second on a James Skelton ground out. After a Chris Rahl fly out, which advanced Ciriaco to third, Sean Coughlin ripped a single to left to drive home Ciriaco.

Chattanooga padded their lead with two additional runs in the seventh frame. James Tomlin led off with a single but was thrown out at second on an Adam Godwin bunt. Justin Sellers followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Mobile relief pitcher Dan Stange then proceeded to shoot himself in the foot by committing a balk, advancing both runners in the process. Josh Bell furthered the damage by ripping a single to right, giving the Lookouts a 4-1 edge.

Francisco Felix shut the door on the BayBears in the ninth to preserve the Lookouts' lead, while notching his second save of the season in the process.

Lindblom improved to 3-3 on the season by throwing five innings of shutout baseball. He struck out four, while surrendering just three hits.

Parker (3-3) took the loss, going six innings and yielding two runs on five hits and four walks. He struck out four in the losing effort.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Mobile BayBears will continue their five-game series at 11:15 A.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
