Arkansas centerfielder Peter Bourjos (wrist) was placed on the disabled list Monday after missing four games with a sprained left wrist that he hurt during batting practice before a game against Corpus Christi last Thursday. The Los Angeles Angels signed outfielder Val Majewski to a Minor League contract and placed him on the Travelers' Double-A roster Monday afternoon.

Bourjos will have an MRI on Tuesday. The 22-year-old outfielder leads Arkansas in hits (62), runs scored (29) and slugging percentage (.454), batting primarily out of the leadoff spot in the lineup. He also leads the Texas League with seven triples and is fourth in the league with 14 stolen bases. Bourjos has not made any errors in 47 games and led Texas League outfielders in putouts before the injury.

Majewski, 27, was batting .310 with four home runs with six stolen bases in 100 at-bats with the Camden Riversharks (Atlantic-Independent) before signing with Arkansas. He was a mid-season signee of the Corpus Christi Hooks last season and was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock after hitting .333 in 16 Double-A games, but became a free agent at the end of the season.

Majewski was a third-round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles in 2002 and appeared in nine games with the Orioles in 2004 before tearing a labrum in his throwing shoulder. The former Orioles' Minor League Player of the Year (2004) is a career .316 hitter in Double-A in more than 800 at-bats and a .249 hitter at higher levels, including 13 Major League at-bats.
