Peacock will start on the mound Wednesday night at Pfitzner Stadium as the P-Nats and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans play the rubber match of their three-game series.
Engles had been one of the many bright spots in the Potomac rotation, going 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA since being recalled from Hagerstown in early June. The Washington organizational leader in strikeouts with 108 in 100 innings pitched, Engles had picked up much of the pitching-slack left by the promotions of Brad Meyers and Jeff Mandel to the Double-A Harrisburg Senators. Opponents had hit just .239 off the right-hander, and his post All-Star break numbers have been spectacular with a 4-1 record and a 2.38 earned run average.
King, Potomac's starting third baseman for much of the 2009 season, has hit .225 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 79 games with the P-Nats. He enjoyed his best month of the season in June in which he hit .286, slugging three home runs and driving in 13. In his last game with the team on July 21 in Lynchburg, King knocked an RBI double before departing in the fifth inning with an injury.
Peacock this season has enjoyed a solid campaign with the Suns. He owns a 5-8 record with a 4.05 ERA and has struck out 77 batters in 100 innings. He had an uneven first half, which saw the right-hander, pitch to a 2-6 record but boast an ERA of 3.76. Tough on lefties, Peacock has held southpaws to a .238 batting average against this season. In Vermont in 2008, Peacock went 4-7, but notched a 3.12 earned run average in 14 starts for the Lake Monsters.
