Josh Reddick's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Pawtucket a 3-2 walk-off win over the Bisons Wednesday night at McCoy Stadium. Angel Chavez sparked the ninth-inning rally with a one-out double off reliever Eddie Kunz. Chavez moved to third on a wild pitch, setting Reddick up to be the hero. The center-fielder drove a 2-1 pitch to left field that backed Jason Dubois up a few steps. Dubois made the catch but Chavez easily beat the throw home to score the winning run. The Red Sox entered the game last in the IL in batting average (.229) and runs (420). Moreover, in eight of their last 12 games, Pawtucket has failed to score more than two runs. But the Paw Sox cashed in on a costly error by Buffalo second-baseman Luis Rivera with two runners on in the seventh to score the tying run. After two singles off reliever Tim McNab, what looked like an inning-ending double play groundball was booted by Rivera that loaded the bases. Gil Valezquez didn't waste the opportunity, hitting a sacrifice fly to push across the Red Sox second run of the game. Bisons' starter, Tobi Stoner, continued the impressive streak Herd starting pitchers have been of late. Stoner's six innings of one-run baseball made it nine consecutive games that a Bisons' starter has allowed two earned runs or fewer. Robinson Cancel, not known for his offensive prowess, ignited both Bisons scoring rallies. He came into Wednesday's game with just 10 extra-base hits all season long, but two extra-base hits from the catcher led to both Bisons runs. Cancel doubled to lead off the second and would come around to score on a two-out single by Josh Petersen for the Herd's first run. The 6-0, 240-pound veteran tripled to start the sixth and scored on a double-play grounder by Nick Green that put the Bisons in front, 2-1. The Paw Sox tied the game in the fourth on a Dusty Brown infield single after Stoner walked the bases loaded.
