The 2010 Midsummer Classic in Myrtle Beach will mark the second consecutive All-Star Game on the Carolina League cycle that the Pelicans will be hosting. The club hosted the 2008 Carolina League-California League All-Star Game, which was regarded as one of the best in event history. A crowd of 6,599, still tied for the largest in BB&T Coastal Field history, packed the ballpark for the 2008 event, which featured numerous top Major League prospects, including current big leaguers, Pablo Sandoval (San Francisco Giants) and Matt Wieters (Baltimore Orioles).
Tickets are now on sale for the All-Star Game, and can be purchased by calling 843-918-6000, visiting the Pelicans Box Office, or at www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com online. As part of the logo reveal, the Pelicans also released All-Star Game Merchandise, just in time for the holiday season. Apparel can be purchased at the Pelicans Pro Shop, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Pro Shop will also be open this Friday, Dec. 5, as part of the Pelicans Open House.
The Holiday Open House will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and will feature ballpark tours, refreshments and other fun activities. The Pelicans will also be collecting toys as well as new socks, underwear and pajamas for Fostering Hope. Mascots Splash and Deuce will be on hand for the festivities.
