Former Zephyr Lane Signs With Marlins
Veteran outfielder batted .282 in 182 games with Zephyrs in 2002-03

Outfielder Jason Lane, whose 122 RBI as a member of the New Orleans Zephyrs ranks 10th in club history, has signed a minor league contract with the Florida Marlins.

Lane played much of the 2002 and 2003 seasons in New Orleans, appearing in a total of 182 games with a cumulative batting average of .282 and 112 RBI, which ranks 10th in team history.

In 2002, he led the Zephyrs with 36 doubles, 15 home runs and 83 RBI.

Lane went on to help the Houston Astros to consecutive postseason appearances in 2004 and 2005, including a World Series berth in '05, when he hit a career-high 26 home runs.

Since being traded by Houston at the end of the 2007 season, Lane has played at the Triple-A level in the Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays systems. Last year, he batted .253 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI for Las Vegas.
