Stanton Hits Three Homeruns, Suns Take Seventh Consecutive Win

Suns starter Alex Sanabia (2-0) dealt seven scoreless innings, giving up five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in the winning decision. Mudcats starter Curtis Partch (0-1) allowed seven earned runs and seven hits over three innings in the losing effort.
Jacksonville opened the scoring in the first inning. After Ozzie Martinez doubled with one out, Michael Stanton belted a two-run homerun into the right field bleachers, his seventh of the season, opening a 2-0 lead.
Stanton extended the Suns lead again in the third inning. Lorenzo Scott walked, Martinez recorded an infield hit and Stanton belted a three-run homerun, his eighth of the year, inside the leftfield pole for a 5-0 score. Later in the inning, Matt Dominguez drove in a pair of runs with a double, opening a 7-0 Suns lead.
The Suns opened an 8-0 lead with a fourth inning sacrifice fly from Mark Saccomanno.
In the eighth inning, Martinez led off with another base hit before Stanton hit the left-centerfield scoreboard with his third homerun of the day and ninth of the season, opening a 10-0 score. Later in the inning Ryan Curry drove in Saccomanno with a sacrifice fly for an 11-0 lead.
Carolina scored an eighth inning run off reliever Jeff Allison and a ninth inning run against Matt Peterson for an 11-2 final.
Stanton's three homerun game was the first for a Suns player since Ryan Jones in 1999 and the first 7+ RBI game for a Suns player since Jesse Ibarra recorded 8 RBI in 1997.
