Moustakas is Texas League POW
Naturals' slugger nets award for second time
05/24/2010 3:40 PM ET

Naturals' third baseman and slugger Mike Moustakas was named as the Texas League Player of the Week. The award was announced Monday by Texas League President Tom Kayser and is for the week ending April 23rd.

It was the second time this season the 21-year old Moustakas has picked up the Player of the Week award. He certainly was deserving of it, however, as he blasted five homers and drove in 14 runs during the week while batting .500 (13-for-26).

On the season, the Northridge, CA resident has a .395 batting average to go along with 12 homers and 40 RBI in just 30 games. His on-base percentage stands at .482, and he carries a .474 batting average at Arvest Ballpark, where he's hit 10 of his 12 homers.

Corpus Christi Hooks left-handed starting pitcher Douglas Arguello was named as the league's pitcher of the week.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state of the art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. You can purchase season tickets and group outings with the Naturals by calling (479) 927-4900.
