Cedar Rapids, IA - Kernels pitcher and MWL West All-Star Garrett Richards has been named the MWL Pitcher of the Week for the period June 7-13. The Midwest League and Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) announced the award on Monday morning.

Richards allowed no runs and one hit over six innings this week, striking out four. He had a 0.17 WHIP (walks & hits per inning pitched), and opposing batters hit only .050 (1-20) against him.

Beloit OF Angel Morales was named the MWL Player of the Week for the same period. Richards is the second Kernel to earn MWL weekly honors this season. Jean Segura was named the MWL Player of the Week on May 24th.

The Kernels wrap up the first half of the 2010 MWL season with a seven game home stand starting Tuesday, June 15th with games against Beloit and Burlington.
