Class A Short-Season Batavia and Staten Island battled for 15 innings and nearly four-and-a-half hours Monday night, with the Muckdogs emerging victorious, 6-5, in a game that featured 37 strikeouts.

Zach Russell racked up the lion's share of Batavia's 20 punchouts. The 2007 49th-round Draft pick allowed one hit over five scoreless frames, while striking out 11 of the 19 batters he faced.

Jose Rada, who followed Russell, fanned four in two perfect innings. Starter Matthew North, who went three innings, and LaCurtis Mayes struck out two apiece. Mayes (2-1) picked up the win after allowing three unearned runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings. David Kington, who pitched the fourth, also fanned one.

Muckdogs reliever Houston Summers came on to retire Luis Parache on a groundout for his first save.

Victor Sanchez delivered a three-run homer in the 15th to give Batavia (11-13) the lead. It was his first longball of the season.

Yankees starter Nik Turley struck out four in four innings. Relievers Manuel Barreda, Nathan Forer and Preston Claiborne followed with three strikeouts in two innings apiece. Chass Whitley K'd one in his one frame, and Jeffrey Farnham struck out two in two innings.

Kevin Mahoney (0-1) took the loss, yielding four runs -- three earned -- on six hits with one strikeout over two frames.

Francisco Arcia collected a homer, two doubles and three RBIs for Staten Island (14-9).
