O'SHEA, BERRY SET DOWN NATS
Keys Take Series with 5-1 Win in Potomac
07/31/2010 9:57 PM ET
Frederick's pitching struggles were in the rear view mirror on Saturday night as RHP Ryan O'Shea became the first Keys starter to register his sixth win while Ryan Berry came in from the pen for the first time in his Carolina League career earning the save in Frederick's 5-1 win.

The Keys needed a strong effort having allowed at least six runs in seven consecutive games. O'Shea worked out of trouble early as the Nationals had the bases loaded in each of the first two innings each time failing to score. O'Shea settled in allowing one run in six inning while striking out a season high seven batters in the win. Berry came in with the Keys atop 2-1 and dominated, allowing one hit while striking out four batters in three innings to earn his first career save.

The Keys broke a 1-all tie in the sixth inning after Hudson and Rowell reached via singled. With two on and one out, Nats catcher Derek Norris attempted to throw behind Rowell at first base. His throw went wild down the right field line and Hudson was able to score all the way from second base. The Keys would not lose the lead.

Frederick scored twice in the eighth inning and Rowell provided an RBI-single in the ninth, his third hit of the night, to provide the winning four-run margin.

The Keys return home for Kids Eat Free Monday, August 2nd against the Salem Red Sox. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. as all children aged 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, chips and soda.
