EVERETT, Wash. - The Boise Hawks forfeited tonight's Northwest League baseball game to the Everett Aquasox, 9-0, before a crowd of 2,798 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

After an 80-minute rain delay at the outset of the game, the Hawks went down in order in the top half of the first, but the Aquasox got a leadoff double from Terry Serrano and with two outs, Kevin Rivers singled through the middle to give Everett a 1-0 lead. Hawkins Gebbers followed with a drive into the left field corner, however Boise leftfielder Ryan Cuneo slipped and fell on the wet warning track, allowing Rivers to score from first, making it 2-0.

Boise skipper Jody Davis walked out and met with home plate umpire, Matt Mullins, and after a lengthy discussion, pulled his nine position players off the diamond.

After a delay of over 20 minutes, Mullins started play - with Gebbers back at second base and Evan Sharpley, the next scheduled batter at the plate, but the Hawks did not return to the field. Following the mandated five-minute grace period stated by the MLB Rule Book, the game was ruled a forfeit.

Game 4 of the series is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. (MDT) - with probable pitchers for both teams to be determined.

NOTES: According to Minor League Baseball Advanced Media that none of the statistics from the game will count - as Alvaro Ramirez grounded out in his lone plate appearance, which would have ended his hit streak at 11 games...all fans were treated to a fireworks show following the game and can exchange tickets to any future Everett Aquasox home game in 2010.
