CORPUS CHRISTI - Nicaraguan left-hander Douglas Arguello has been named Corpus Christi Hooks Pitcher-of-the-Year by the ball club, team president Ken Schrom announced Tuesday.
Arguello, 25, tied Astros top prospect Jordan Lyles for the team lead in victories with seven. His 2.55 ERA led the Texas League. Arguello's two complete games topped the Hooks staff. He struck out 100 over 127 innings (22 starts) and issued 47 walks. Only four hitters popped home runs with Arguello on the mound, an average of one round-tripper every 32 innings.
Arguello, who has spent nine seasons in the Astros system (2001 free agent), missed six starts at season's end on the disabled list. He is a two-time member of the TL South Division All-Stars.

Schrom also announced a pair of Texas League 2010 team awards for the Hooks. The other seven clubs selected the Omni Marina Hotel as the top visiting team hotel in the TL. Clubhouse manager Brad Starr was recognized by the umpires, who voted his officials' dressing room best in the loop.
