HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Huntsville Stars are holding a food drive to help the Downtown Rescue Mission re-stock their pantry shelves. We're asking fans to donate non-perishable items to the Stars front office between now and Friday, October 8.

For every five non-perishable items you donate, you will receive a special raffle ticket. The Stars will raffle off a 15-person skybox for use on Opening Night 2011 and the opportunity to throw out the game's honorary first pitch. All you have to do is donate five items and you're automatically entered!

The Stars will be accepting donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the second floor of Joe W. Davis Stadium. The Downtown Rescue Mission said the most in demand non-perishables are canned goods, cereal and dry macaroni. However, anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.

The Downtown Rescue Mission (DRM) is a non-profit organization offering different charities for the homeless of our community since 1975. The DRM helps men, women and children find a warm meal and a safe place to stay in one of their homeless missions.

The raffle will be held on Friday, October 8 so donate soon and donate often! The Downtown Rescue Mission and the Stars appreciate anything you can contribute.
