Southpaw Douglas Arguello is a nominee for "Best Double-A Starting Pitcher" in MiLB.com's annual end-of-season awards (the MiLBYs).

Named Corpus Christi's Pitcher-of-the-Year last month, Arguello tied Astros top prospect Jordan Lyles for the club lead in victories with seven. Arguello posted a 2.55 ERA to lead the Texas League and his two complete games topped the Hooks staff. The Nicaraguan hurler struck out 100 over 127 innings (22 starts) and issued 47 walks. Arguello surrendered four home runs on the mound this season, an average of one round-tripper every 32 innings.
Acquired by Houston as a non-drafted free agent in 2001, Arguello missed his last six starts of the season due to a stint on the disabled list. He is a two-time member of the TL South Division All-Stars.
