Hagerty, 23, batted .302 with 14 home runs and 74 RBIs for the TinCaps. He finished second in the Midwest League in on-base percentage (.423) and threw out 28 percent of baserunners trying to steal. Hagerty was a Midwest League full-season all-star and was named the league's Hitter of the Week on two occasions. He had a 31-game on-base streak during the 2010 season and also had a stretch where he hit five home runs in five games. Hagerty was selected by the Padres in the fifth round of the 2009 draft out of the University of Miami (Fla.).
"This honor is especially impressive considering Jason was selected as the best catcher from both Class-A and Advanced-A," TinCaps president Mike Nutter said. "It's just another example of the quality players the San Diego Padres have sent to Fort Wayne over the last several years."
TinCaps 2011 ticket plans, group outings and picnics are on sale now. Visit the tickets page for more information.
