“This is a creative and interactive way for our fans to get involved with our ever-expanding food menu at Coca-Cola Park,” exclaimed IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. “In a year in which we are encouraging fans to Pig Out on IronPigs baseball, we felt it was best to let them – the consumers -- determine which new, extreme menu option they’d be most excited about us adding for 2011.”
The IronPigs concessions department has been testing extreme food combinations throughout the off-season before narrowing the possibilities down to four for fan vote. Based on the online results, one of the following four brand-new menu options will be dubbed the new Pig Out menu item in 2011:
- The “Three Little Pigs” Sandwich – Feast on this: Three different types of meat featuring four strips of mouth-watering bacon, two 1/4-inch thick slices of ham and four ounces of succulent pulled pork. A rich barbeque sauce compliments the meat that is served on a fresh Kaiser bun.
- Diggity Dog – The hot dog has been reinvented with Black Angus beef, two slices of hot-off-the-grill bacon and melted American cheese on a hearty steak roll. Savor the taste with ultimate array of toppings including fried onion straws and barbeque sauce.
- Double Blast Burger – Imagine the double cheese-burger flipped on its head! Two, half-pound beef patties, two slices of American cheese, French fries and coleslaw on a fresh Kaiser bun.
- Loaded Fries – French fries crammed with cheese, pulled pork barbeque, chopped bacon, sour cream, chopped tomato and heart-pounding spicy jalapeno peppers. Don’t forget to grab some napkins!
Coca-Cola Park is already considered the epicenter of the Minor League Baseball food universe, with a menu that features a number of popular specialty foods such as the Boss Hog Dog (the largest hot dog at Coca-Cola Park), the Nacho Porker (a hearty portion of nachos heaped with shredded pork) and The Big Porker (the largest BBQ pork sandwich allowed by law). Other unique favorites include Philly Fries (which consist of a large serving of fries and all of the ingredients of a cheese steak!), classic Coke and root beer floats and Pennsylvania-style pierogies and corn dogs.
The 2010 featured food item, the “All Star Sandwich”, consisting of warm Boar’s Head pastrami on a Kaiser roll, topped with white American cheese, French fries and creamy coleslaw returns for 2011 after a popular first-year run.
Single-game tickets for the 2011 season go on sale during the club’s annual National Pig Day festivities at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m.
