Sampson, 20, was the Padres' fourth-round pick in the 2009 draft. He delivered six perfect innings with a career-high ten strikeouts on opening night for the TinCaps. In his second outing at Bowling Green, he went five scoreless frames with nine strikeouts. For the season, he has given up just two hits (one an infield single) and walked one.
Sampson's next start is scheduled for Tuesday at West Michigan.
The TinCaps open a six-game road trip tonight with a matchup against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Class-A Detroit Tigers) at 6:35 p.m. They return to Parkview Field for a three-game homestand beginning on Monday, April 25.
