"Ken Griffey, Jr., is one of the greatest baseball players of all-time -- a sure Hall of Famer who played the game with breathtaking ability and grace," said team owner, Dave Heller. "It is a real honor to be able to have him come to the Victor Valley, and we look forward to his visit."
Upon retirement from baseball, Griffey, Jr. became a full-time consultant for the Mariners. In the course of his duties with the Mariners, Griffey, Jr. worked with the team during Spring Training, and will be visiting Mariners' Minor League affiliates this season, as well as being involved in broadcasting, marketing and community relations.
