HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The South Atlantic League announced today that Suns right-hander Cameron Selik has been selected as Pitcher of the Week for April 18-24, 2011.
Selik threw five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit in a no-decision against the Lakewood BlueClaws on April 18. He recorded 11 strikeouts and walked one. The righty has yet to surrender a run this season. He holds a 1-0 record in three starts this year and has given up nine hits and three walks while tallying 20 strikeouts.
Selik, 23, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 22nd round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Kansas. Last season, he held a 1-0 record and 2.54 ERA in 15 games, 28 and one-third innings, with the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League.
