Those wishing to view and take their picture with the World Series trophy will enter "The Joe" from the third base gate and will form a line along the concession stand and through to the main entrance of the stadium, where the trophy will be displayed. The ValleyCats New York-Penn League championship trophy will be on display as well.
Admission is free and fans may view the trophy on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. Those wishing to take photographs may do so at no charge from a designated location. Fans also have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken with the trophy.
The barbershop quartet JuMPP, part of The Racing City Chorus, will be performing for fans waiting in line and artifacts from the history of baseball in Troy will be on display. Refreshments will be available as fans exit through the first base gate.
A new twist includes the addition of a baseball game featuring two local college teams, Hudson Valley and RPI JV. Their game, originally scheduled for Wednesday but cancelled due to the weather, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.. Those wishing to just watch the game can enter the stadium through the first base gate.
The World Series trophy stop in Troy is part of a public tour the San Francisco Giants launched to celebrate its first championship since 1954, and the first since moving from New York City to San Francisco. The franchise has strong roots to the city of Troy as five hall of famers played as a member of the Troy Trojans from 1879-1882.
Immediately after the visit to "The Joe," the trophy will head to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
