PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 9th through May 15th:
Erie SeaWolves outfielder Justin Henry has been named the Eastern League Player
of the Week for the period of May 9th-May 15th. The 26-year old appeared in
seven games last week for the SeaWolves and batted .464 (13-for-28) with one
double, one triple, five runs scored, two RBI, three stolen bases, two walks
and a .571 slugging percentage. The 6'3", 180 lb. speedster reached base in
all seven games he played in last week and had five multiple hit games, including
going 4-for-4 on Thursday night at Altoona. He has reached base in 14 consecutive
games for the SeaWolves and is hitting .440 with three doubles and 10 runs scored
during that span. Henry, who is a native of Houston, Texas, ranked first among
all Eastern League players in batting average (.464) and hits (13) last week.
He also finished ranked among the weekly leaders in stolen bases (3-tied 2nd),
on-base percentage (.500-tied 3rd), OPS (1.071-tied 3rd), total bases (16-tied
4th) and slugging percentage (.571-tied 9th). Justin, who is currently ranked
second in the league in batting average (.368) and on-base percentage (.455),
was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the ninth round of the 2007 draft after
hitting .381 with 52 runs scored and 22 stolen bases in 65 games during his
junior season as the University of Mississippi.

Brad Peacock, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators,
is the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 9th-May 15th.
The 6'1", 175 lb. hurler made one appearance for the Senators last week and
had a record of 1-0 with 1.29 ERA in seven innings pitched. Peacock, who entered
the 2011 season rated by Baseball America as the 10th best prospect in the Washington
organization, made his only start of the week on Friday night at Richmond and
gave up just one run on five hits and one walk while striking out 14 batters
in Harrisburg's 5-2 victory. He struck out at least one batter in every inning
he pitched and finished the game by striking out the final five batters he faced
while improving his record to 5-1 on the season. The 23-year old is currently
tied for first in the league in strikeouts (56) and wins (5). The Miami, Florida
native is also ranked second in WHIP (0.87), fourth in ERA (2.13), fourth in
innings pitched (42.1) and fifth in batting average against (.195). Brad, who
was also named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week earlier this season for
the period of April 18th-24th, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the
41st round of the 2006 draft out of Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington,
Florida.
