When the Erie SeaWolves, class Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, come to Bowie for a three game series this weekend, fans will have the opportunity to see some of the top future talent in the country on the diamond.

The Baysox and the SeaWolves are currently locked in a battle for supremacy in the closely contested Eastern League Western Division with both teams less than two games out of first place after the first 40 games have been played.

On Bowie's roster are several of the top prospects in the Orioles organization, including outfielder Xavier Avery and right-handed relief pitcher Dan Klein. According to Baseball America, Avery is currently the third best prospect in the Orioles system and the best overall athlete. Playing center field, Avery displays dynamic speed that he also showcases on the base paths. He currently leads the Eastern League with 18 stolen bases.

Klein is currently ranked as the fifth best prospect in the Orioles system by Baseball America and is considered to have the best curveball and change-up. In his first five appearances with the Baysox and 9.1 innings pitched, Klein has dominated batters and has yet to allow an earned run.

Other Baysox players to keep an eye out for are right fielder Ronnie Welty, who Baseball America ranks as the 19th best prospect, 23rd ranked third baseman Brandon Waring, 26th ranked second baseman Greg Miclat, 28th ranked catcher Caleb Joseph, and 29th ranked shortstop Pedro Florimon.

The SeaWolves are traveling to town with several of the top prospects in the Tigers organization, including top ranked pitcher Jacob Turner and fourth ranked third baseman Francisco Martinez.

Turner, who is scheduled to pitch against the Baysox Saturday, is rated by Baseball America as having the best change-up and curveball in the system. In seven starts this season, Turner is 1-1 with a 2.58 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 45.1 innings.

At age 20, Martinez has already made his way up to the Double-A level and is an everyday starter at third base for the SeaWolves. Through 33 games, Martinez is batting .235 with four doubles, four home runs, and 15 RBIs.

Other SeaWolves players to keep an eye on are right-handed relief pitcher Chance Ruffin, who Baseball America ranks as the seventh best prospect and catcher Bryan Holaday, who is ranked 20th.
