MEMPHIS, TN - AutoZone Park, home of the Memphis Redbirds, has grabbed the number six spot in PETA's top 10 vegetarian-friendly minor league ballparks.
The park's veggie dogs, veggie sausage and grilled spicy black-bean burgers are three of the vegetarian-friendly food options offered by Ovations Food Services and a few of the reasons why AutoZone Park was named part of the top 10. Redbirds fans are also offered a baked-potato bar, a fresh fruit medley and a grilled Caesar salad wrap with fish-friendly, anchovy-free salad dressing.
Ovations has offered these vegetarian options since AutoZone Park's inaugural season in 2000. They continue to expand their offerings in concessions, catering and luxury suites each year.
Top athletes, including first baseman Prince Fielder, MMA fighter Jake Shields, NBA legend John Salley, NFL running back Ricky Williams, look to meatless meals to boost their health and help stop cruelty to animals. A trip to ballpark concession stands confirms that many fans are getting the message too. With this list, PETA was able to highlight the parks that give every type of appetite a chance to enjoy a day at the ballpark.
Global Spectrum (global-spectrum.com) manages the Memphis Redbirds, as well as nearly 100 other public assembly facilities around the world. Nearly 20-million people attended more than 11,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year.
