The affiliation started in 1981 and is the eighth-longest current affiliation in professional baseball.
"With these guys, we want to keep them extended as long as we can," said Oneri Fleita, the Chicago Cubs' vice president of player personnel. "They give us red-carpet treatment 24-7 for our players and our staff. We're five hours away in Chicago. We've got a huge fan base here. Huge Cubs fans. I don't know if we could ask for anything more."
"The Chicago Cubs are great partners," said Iowa Cubs principal owner Michael Gartner. "We're happy they've extended our working agreement. And we're happy to be able to continue to bring Cubs baseball to our great fans here in Iowa."
