NEW YORK -- A pair of Blue Jays pitchers were suspended on Thursday after testing positive for anabolic steroids, the Commissioner's Office said.

Aderly De La Cruz, a right-hander, and Luillyn Guillen, a lefty, each received 50-game suspensions following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Both players were with the Toronto's Dominican Summer League affiliate.

De La Cruz, 18, tested positive for Nandrolone, a steroid commonly known as Deca-Durabolin that has previously been linked to Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, among others. The 6-foot-4 Santo Domingo native was 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA in seven relief outings, spanning 15 innings this season.

Guillen, 22, tested positive for Stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from testosterone that has been linked to dozens of professional athletes. The San Cristobal native had 10 strikeouts and 1.13 ERA in eight innings over two outings this summer.

The suspensions are effective immediately.

With the two bans, Major League Baseball has now disciplined 38 players under the Minor League program in 2011. The news comes exactly a week after Major League Baseball suspended two other Dominican Summer Leaguers, Chicago Cubs right-hander Enyelberth Pena and Padres righty Miguel Severino. Pena also tested positive for Nandrolone; Severino was cited for Stanozolol.
