The San Diego Padres have signed RHP John Van Benschoten and assigned him to the Tucson Padres. Van Benschoten was the eighth overall pick in the 2001 first year player draft by the Pirates and pitched parts of three seasons with Pittsburgh in the Major Leagues. He will pitch for Tucson Monday vs. Tacoma at Kino Stadium.

INF Logan Forsythe has been recalled by the San Diego Padres. It will be the third Major League stint for Forsythe this season, who has hit .167 with no home runs and two RBIs in 22 games with San Diego.

C Luis Martinez has been optioned to Tucson from San Diego. Martinez went 0-for-2 for the Padres in his first Major League game Friday vs. San Francisco.

RHP Matt Buschmann has been transferred to Double-A San Antonio.

OF Bobby Kielty has been placed on the 7-Day DL with a right ankle contusion.

OF Aaron Cunningham has been placed on the 7-Day DL with a concussion.

INF Tyler Stubblefield has been transferred to Tucson from Single-A Fort Wayne.
